Suspension Testers
Every driver knows a vehicle is useless if a wheel loses contact with the road. That is precisely what happens when the chassis’ damping performance deteriorates due to worn suspension elements.
Every driver knows a vehicle is useless if a wheel loses contact with the road. That is precisely what happens when the chassis’ damping performance deteriorates due to worn suspension elements.
As a result, the stopping distance is extended, and driver assistance systems, such as ABS and ESP, cannot deliver their effectiveness without sufficient contact with the road. Shock absorbers have a limited life, with around 10% failing after 5 years. Worse still, the most common method of inspection is visual. However, more than 50% of shocks cannot be assessed visually. The answer is a compact, battery-powered, hand-held shock absorber tester that measures the “Damping Ratio”. This measure uses the vehicle’s vertical sprung mass movement to determine the performance of the individual shock absorber.
