The DVSA has completed its first “Images in Garages” trial, a crucial step in its mission to enhance road safety and combat MOT fraud! This innovative initiative saw over 170 MOT testers in 62 garages across the UK capture and upload photos of vehicles during MOTs directly to the digital MOT Testing Service.
The results are in, and they’re impressive! With over 13,000 photos submitted, the trial demonstrated high user adoption and positive feedback from participating garages. This pioneering effort aims to reduce fraudulent “Ghost” MOTs and ensure that all vehicles are physically present for testing.
While the trial provided valuable insights into image quality and minor technical adjustments, the DVSA is pleased with the progress and the commitment shown by the garages. This success paves the way for a wider trial and phased rollout, reinforcing DVSA’s commitment to improving the integrity of the MOT process.
Stay tuned for more updates as DVSA continues to refine and expand this vital program, working closely with garages to build a safer future on our roads.
